Product Description

  1. Material Characteristics

  • Chemical Composition and Microstructure: Stainless steel PS8, which is applied in the printing and packaging industry, contains appropriate amounts of key elements such as chromium and nickel in its chemical composition. The chromium content is approximately between 16% and 18%, and the nickel content is about 10% to 12%. Chromium forms a strong and highly self-healing chromium oxide protective film on the surface, effectively resisting chemical erosion caused by inks, solvents, and humid environments in printing workshops. The nickel element enhances the toughness and ductility of the stainless steel, enabling it to adapt to the vibration and stress changes during the operation of printing and packaging machinery. Its microstructure is uniform and compact, with crystals arranged regularly. This structure helps improve the strength and anti-fatigue performance of the material, ensuring stable physical properties during long-term use.
  • Physical Property Indicators: It has good strength and hardness characteristics. The tensile strength is generally between 550 and 650 MPa, and the yield strength is approximately 250 to 300 MPa. Such strength enables it to bear the loads under the high-speed operation and high pressure of components such as printing rollers and pressure rollers in printing machines, ensuring that the components will not be easily deformed or damaged. The Rockwell hardness (HRC) ranges from 28 to 32, with a moderate hardness that facilitates mechanical processing such as cutting and drilling. At the same time, it maintains good wear resistance during contact with paper, ink, and packaging materials, reducing surface damage and precision degradation caused by friction. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is relatively low, approximately 16 - 18 × 10 / °C. When printing and packaging equipment generates heat due to long-term operation or experiences environmental temperature fluctuations, it can effectively control the dimensional changes of components and maintain the precise fit and stable operation of the equipment.

  1. Processing Performance

  • Cutting Processing Performance: It performs excellently in cutting processing. Due to its moderate hardness and stable organizational structure, by using appropriate tool materials (such as cemented carbide tools) and optimized cutting parameters (the cutting speed is 100 - 150 m/min, the feed rate is 0.1 - 0.2 mm/r, and the cutting depth is 0.5 - 2 mm), high-precision processing can be achieved. For example, when processing shaft parts of printing machines, the surface roughness after processing can be controlled within Ra1.6 - 3.2 μm, and the dimensional accuracy can reach ±0.03 mm, meeting the precision processing requirements of the printing and packaging industry for parts. Moreover, it has good chip-breaking performance. The chips generated during the cutting process have regular shapes and are easy to clean up, reducing the risk of processing interruption and tool damage caused by chips winding around the tool.
  • Forming Processing Capability: It has excellent forming processing capabilities and can adapt well to both cold forming and hot forming processes. During cold forming, such as cold rolling and cold bending operations, its good ductility allows stainless steel sheets to be processed into various complex-shaped components of printing and packaging machinery, such as the frames and shields of printing machines. For example, through the cold rolling process, stainless steel PS8 sheets with a thickness of 2 - 5 mm can be processed into printing machine side panels with specific arcs and shapes without cracks or fractures during the processing. In the hot forming aspect, after being heated to an appropriate temperature range of 950 - 1100 °C, its plasticity is significantly enhanced, and it can be used for forging, hot rolling and other processing to manufacture key load-bearing components of large printing and packaging machinery, such as the main shafts and crankshafts of printing machines. The internal structure of the formed components is uniform and the performance is reliable.
  • Welding Performance Characteristics: It has excellent welding performance and can adopt multiple welding methods, such as manual arc welding, argon arc welding, and carbon dioxide gas shielded welding. During the welding process, due to its stable chemical composition and good fluidity, the weld seam has a beautiful shape and is not prone to welding defects such as pores, cracks, and slag inclusions. When welding, by selecting welding materials similar in chemical composition to the base metal (such as matching stainless steel welding wires) and reasonably controlling parameters such as welding current, voltage, and welding speed, the strength and corrosion resistance of the welded joint can be ensured to be equivalent to those of the base metal. For example, when using argon arc welding to weld stainless steel PS8 sheets with a thickness of 4 mm, the welding current is controlled between 100 and 130 A, the voltage is 12 - 16 V, and the welding speed is approximately 8 - 12 cm/min. The strength of the welded joint after welding can reach more than 95% of that of the base metal, and it has good corrosion resistance in the working environment of the printing and packaging industry, ensuring the overall performance and service life of the equipment.

  1. Application Components in Printing and Packaging Machinery

  • Printing Rollers and Pressure Rollers: Printing rollers and pressure rollers are the core components of printing machines. The high strength, high wear resistance, and dimensional stability of stainless steel PS8 play a crucial role in these components. During the printing process, the printing roller needs to accurately transfer ink onto paper, and the pressure roller has to apply appropriate pressure to ensure the even adhesion of ink. Stainless steel PS8 can withstand the working requirements under high-speed operation and high pressure, ensuring the consistency and stability of printing quality and reducing printing flaws caused by component wear or deformation.
  • Mechanical Frames and Shields: The frames and shields of printing and packaging machinery made of stainless steel PS8 can provide solid structural support and good protection functions for the equipment. As the skeleton of the equipment, the frame needs to have sufficient strength and rigidity, which stainless steel PS8 can meet. Moreover, its corrosion resistance can prevent rust and corrosion in the humid environment with many chemicals such as inks and solvents in printing workshops, prolonging the service life of the equipment. The shield can protect the internal mechanical components from the intrusion of impurities such as dust and ink splashes. Meanwhile, its metallic luster and the property that it can be subjected to surface treatments (such as painting, electroplating, etc.) make it more aesthetically pleasing in appearance, meeting the requirements of the printing and packaging industry for the appearance of equipment.
  • Paper Feeding and Collecting Components: Stainless steel PS8 also has important applications in the paper feeding and collecting components of printing machines. Its smooth surface and good wear resistance can reduce the frictional resistance of paper during the conveying process, avoiding paper scratches or jamming. Meanwhile, its precise dimensional control ability ensures the installation accuracy of the paper feeding and collecting components, enabling paper to be conveyed and collected accurately and smoothly, improving the efficiency and product quality of printing production.

Advantages

  1. Excellent Corrosion Resistance

  • The protective film formed by elements such as chromium and nickel and its stable chemical composition endow it with excellent corrosion resistance in the complex chemical environment of the printing and packaging industry. Inks, solvents, and humid air in printing workshops will not easily erode stainless steel PS8. This characteristic greatly reduces the frequent maintenance and component replacement due to equipment corrosion, lowers the production cost, and at the same time ensures the long-term stable operation of printing and packaging equipment and improves production efficiency. For example, in a large printing factory, printing machines made of stainless steel PS8 have a very low degree of corrosion after continuous operation for many years. Compared with traditional carbon steel printing machines, it significantly reduces the downtime and maintenance costs caused by corrosion.

  1. Good Mechanical Properties

  • The good balance of strength, hardness, toughness, and anti-fatigue performance is its significant advantage. Under the working conditions of high-speed operation, frequent start-stop, and bearing various complex stresses of printing and packaging machinery, stainless steel PS8 can work stably. Its high strength and hardness ensure that components will not be easily deformed or damaged when subjected to tensile, compressive, and frictional forces, while its good toughness and anti-fatigue performance enable it to cope with vibrations, impacts, and long-term cyclic stresses during the operation of the machinery, reducing the risk of equipment failure caused by sudden component fractures and improving the reliability and safety of printing and packaging machinery and prolonging its service life.

  1. Outstanding Processing Adaptability

  • Whether it is cutting, forming, or welding processing, stainless steel PS8 can adapt well to the process requirements in the manufacturing process of printing and packaging machinery. In cutting processing, it can achieve high-precision and good-surface-quality processing, providing a guarantee for the precision manufacturing of printing and packaging machinery parts. Forming processing can manufacture various complex-shaped components to meet the diverse structural design needs of printing and packaging machinery. The excellent welding performance facilitates the connection and assembly of components, ensuring that the quality of welded joints is equivalent to that of the base metal, improving the structural integrity and performance stability of printing and packaging machinery as a whole, and reducing the process difficulty and cost in the manufacturing process.

  1. Improvement of Printing and Packaging Product Quality

  • Due to the application of stainless steel PS8 in printing and packaging machinery, its good material characteristics contribute to the improvement of printing and packaging product quality. For example, the high precision and stability of printing rollers and pressure rollers ensure the uniformity and accuracy of ink transfer, thereby improving the color vividness and image clarity of printed products. The good performance of paper feeding and collecting components reduces paper damage and jamming during the conveying process, making the appearance of printing and packaging products more neat and beautiful, giving them an advantage in the market competition of the printing and packaging industry.
